Flooding situation in Scotland - 10.00, Thurs 11 Aug

date11 August 2011

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) currently has a number of Flood Alerts and Warnings in force due to persistent rain.

Peebles in the Borders remains an area of concern. River levels are continuing to rise and are expected to carry on doing so until mid afternoon.  There is a potential for some residential impacts.

In Edinburgh, the forecast rainfall has been reduced.  No real significant impacts are expected. From Perth northwards the situation is improving and this is expected to continue as the day progresses and in the South West rivers are still rising but the flooding situation is not expected to worsen. The main impacts have been seen on low lying agricultural land, with no residential impacts reported.

If anyone is concerned about flooding we encourage them to help themselves by using Floodline, 0845 988 11 88 or www.sepa.org.uk/flooding.aspx where there is advice on how to help prepare for flooding.
