date05 December 2013

Pascal Lardet, Hydrology Duty Manager, for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) said:

We have seen a number of instances of flooding on Thursday in many locations around the country.

“However, the current high surge will persist and high tidal water levels are predicted again in the early hours of Friday morning, between 2am and 5am along the south east and Aberdeenshire coastline, with a risk of flooding for some communities along the Firth of Forth, including Grangemouth, East Lothian and Scottish Borders coast. Other areas along the Moray and Aberdeenshire coast may also be affected. The situation is expected to ease during Friday.

"SEPA will continue to monitor the situation and would encourage the public to check the SEPA website foractive flood alerts and warnings or call SEPA's Floodline on 0845 988 1188, for the most up to date information on their area."
