Flooding outlook - 6 March

date06 March 2015

Richard Brown, SEPA’s Duty Hydrology Manager, said:

"Forecast heavy rainfall and very mild temperatures tonight and tomorrow will cause watercourses to rise in the North and West, particularly in Skye, Glencoe, Lochaber and the Great Glen.  Although such conditions are not unprecedented in this area, it is likely that flooding could affect low lying agricultural land and roads.

"Rivers in Lochaber and around the Great Glen as well as the Beauly, Conon, Ness and Upper Spey are likely to respond and SEPA will be keeping a close eye on these watercourses.

"Wet weather is also likely to affect Tayside and Central before turning North again on Saturday.  We would advise people to keep an eye on our flood update pages at www.sepa.org.uk/floodupdates  or call 0345 988 1188 for information."
