Storm Hector - 13 / 14 June 2018

date13 June 2018

David Faichney, Duty Flooding Manager for SEPA, said:

“Storm Hector is on its way with widespread heavy rain affecting western areas of Scotland on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

“On Thursday, gale force winds will increase wave heights around high tide, particularly in the Solway Firth and Firth of Clyde, which may result in some spray and wave overtopping in exposed areas along the west coast. More widely, surface water flooding is possible from heavier showers and small watercourses could also rise quickly, especially in the west.

“Be mindful of conditions if you are out and about over the coming days, especially in coastal areas of Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway.

“Sign up to Floodline on 0345 988 1188 for the most up to date alerts and remain vigilant - especially in areas susceptible to flooding.”
