Sunday evening flood outlook - 28th January

date28 January 2018

Another round of heavy rain is forecast to track over northwest and central Scotland this evening with the potential to cause localised flooding from rivers to agricultural land and isolated properties.

Dependent on the distribution of the heaviest rain, area’s within Findhorn Nairn Moray and Speyside, Easter Ross and the Great Glen, Skye and Lochaber, Argyll and Bute, and western parts of Tayside and Central are most likely to be affected.

With up to 30mm of rain expected in some areas overnight, surface water on the roads could cause disruption in rural areas, particularly around low lying agricultural land.

A tidal surge is still expected throughout Sunday and combined with high waves, some spray and wave overtopping will affect more exposed stretches of coastline.

As always, we continue to work closely with the Met Office, the Scottish Flood Forecasting Service and local authorities over the weekend and would encourage the public to stay vigilant and keep up to date on local conditions, especially when travelling.
