Appeal for information: Flytipping of demolition waste and asbestos roofing sheets in Wood of Auchenhalrig, Tynet
It is suspected that the waste which was flytipped in the vicinity of the Wood of Auchenhalrig, Tynet may have originated from a recent demolition site in the Buckie area.
SEPA would like to encourage anyone who might have noticed suspicious activities in the areas mentioned, or members of the public that recognise the description of the waste, to call SEPA’s Elgin office on 01343 547663, or the Dumb Dumpers Stop Line on 0845 2 30 40 90.
Dean Hope, Environment Protection Officer from SEPA said:
Flytipping is not only unsightly but, depending on the nature of the waste, it can also be hazardous to health and cause environmental damage. Asbestos is classed as a hazardous waste and there are strict controls in place for its safe disposal at appropriately licensed facilities.
“We would strongly encourage anyone who might have been travelling in the area or noticed anything suspicious to get in touch, so that we find those responsible and hopefully prevent this from happening again. Please remember you can make a report to us in confidence.”
