Amcor Flexibles fire - Update 1

  19 September 2010

As part of the ongoing sampling of the Dedridge burn, following the fire at Amcor Flexibles in West Calder on Thursday 16 September, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has found evidence of pollution of some of the surrounding watercourses, and slightly elevated levels of one substance which has the potential to be harmful.

These findings have been passed to West Lothian Council’s Environmental Health Department who are issuing precautionary advice to the public. SEPA will continue to sample and monitor the burn and to liaise closely with partner organisations, including the Fire and Rescue Service and the Council’s Environmental Health department to ensure that the risk to the public and the surrounding environment is minimised.
